2003 Subaru Baja Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Note: These instructions apply to programming the remote locking functions of the keyless entry fob. Up to four remotes can be programmed to the vehicle. Be sure no other Subaru vehicles are nearby during this process to avoid unintentional programming.
Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: If your vehicle is equipped with a security system, make sure it is disarmed before beginning.
- Step 2: Open the driver’s door and sit in the driver’s seat.
- Step 3: Close the driver’s door securely.
- Step 4: Insert the key into the ignition. Turn the key from the LOCK position to the ON position and back to LOCK ten times within 15 seconds. Do not remove the key at the end. Stop in the LOCK position. The horn will sound once, confirming that the vehicle has entered programming mode.
- Step 5: Within 45 seconds of the horn sounding, perform the following actions to program the remote: A. Open the driver’s door. B. Close the driver’s door. C. Press and release any button on the remote you wish to program. The horn will sound twice, indicating successful registration of that remote.
- Step 6: To exit programming mode, remove the key from the ignition. The horn will sound three times, confirming that the system has exited programming mode.
Additional Tips:
- You may program up to four remotes during the same session. If a remote is lost and you want to clear its access, reprogram the remaining remote four times to overwrite all stored codes. Make sure no other Subaru vehicles or remotes are nearby during programming to prevent accidental pairing.
