2004 Buick Rainier Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Notice: The 2004 Buick Rainier supports onboard programming for keyless entry remote fobs. Carefully follow the steps below to program new or additional remotes.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Close all doors securely before beginning the procedure.
- Step 2: Insert the key into the ignition but do not turn it yet.
- Step 3: Press and hold the power UNLOCK button located on the driver’s door panel. Keep holding it until instructed to release in Step 9.
- Step 4: Complete Steps 5 through 8 in rapid succession.
- Step 5: Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (the position just before starting the engine).
- Step 6: Turn the ignition back to the OFF position.
- Step 7: Turn the ignition switch to the ON position again.
- Step 8: Turn the ignition back to the OFF position once more.
- Step 9: Release the power UNLOCK button on the door panel. At this point, the vehicle will automatically cycle the door locks (lock and unlock) to confirm entry into programming mode.
- Step 10: Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote simultaneously. Continue holding both buttons until the door locks cycle again. This may take up to 30 seconds.
- Step 11: Repeat Step 10 for any additional remotes, including those previously programmed, as only remotes paired during this session will remain functional.
- Step 12: Turn the ignition switch to the ON position to exit programming mode. The process is now complete.
Additional Notes: Ensure all remotes are programmed during the same session. Any remotes not included in this process will no longer operate the vehicle. If the doors do not cycle during Step 9 or Step 10, restart the process from Step 1. Up to four remote fobs can be programmed to this vehicle.
