Programming Guide for 2004 Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: Before beginning the procedure, ensure that all remotes to be used are present. When entering programming mode, the system erases all previously stored remotes. Any remote not reprogrammed during this session will no longer function. This guide applies only to remote fobs and does not include ignition key programming.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Sit in the driver’s seat and make sure all vehicle doors are securely closed.
- Step 2: Insert the ignition key into the ignition cylinder.
- Step 3: Turn the ignition to the ON position (without starting the engine).
- Step 4: Turn the ignition to the OFF position and remove the key.
- Step 5: Press and hold the UNLOCK button on the driver’s side power door lock switch.
- Step 6: While continuing to hold the UNLOCK button, insert the ignition key into the ignition, then immediately remove it. Do not turn the key.
- Step 7: Repeat Step 6: insert and remove the key a second time, again without turning it.
- Step 8: Insert the key into the ignition a third time and leave it in place without turning.
- Step 9: Release the UNLOCK button on the door. The vehicle should emit three chimes, confirming it has entered programming mode.
- Step 10: On the first remote fob, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously.
- Step 11: Hold both buttons for approximately 15 seconds until the vehicle emits two beeps, confirming successful programming of the remote.
- Step 12: Repeat Steps 10 and 11 for any additional remotes you wish to program. You may program up to four remotes during this session.
- Step 13: After all remotes have been programmed, remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 14: The vehicle will emit a final chime, indicating that programming mode has ended.
- Step 15: Test each remote to ensure proper operation, including lock, unlock, and panic features (if applicable).
Additional Considerations:
Remote Limit: A total of four remotes can be programmed to this vehicle.
Battery Condition: Ensure each remote has a working battery before starting.
Ignition Key Programming: This procedure does not program ignition keys. A trained professional with diagnostic tools is required for that process.
If Programming Fails: If the vehicle does not enter programming mode or fails to respond to the remote, repeat the procedure from Step 1 and follow each instruction carefully.
