Programming Guide for 2004 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Cadillac Escalade
Important Notice: The 2004 Escalade supports onboard programming for remote keyless entry fobs. During this process, all previously paired remotes will be erased, and any remote not reprogrammed during the session will no longer function. Be sure to program all remotes at once.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Ensure All Doors Are Closed Before beginning, confirm that all doors—including the tailgate—are securely closed.
- Step 2: Insert the Ignition Key Insert the key into the ignition without turning it yet.
- Step 3: Press and Hold the Power Unlock Button On the driver’s door panel, press and hold the power UNLOCK button. Do not release this button until Step 9.
- Step 4: Prepare to Cycle the Ignition Quickly The next few steps must be completed in rapid succession. Have one hand on the ignition and the other holding the UNLOCK button.
- Step 5: Turn the ignition to the ON position (just before engine start).
- Step 6: Turn the ignition to OFF.
- Step 7: Turn the ignition to ON again.
- Step 8: Turn the ignition to OFF once more.
- Step 9: Release the Unlock Button Release the power UNLOCK button. If successful, the door locks will automatically cycle (lock and unlock). If the locks do not cycle, programming mode was not entered. Remove the key, open the driver’s door, and restart from Step 1.
- Step 10: Program the First Remote Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the first remote simultaneously. Hold the buttons for up to 30 seconds until the door locks cycle, confirming successful programming.
- Step 11: Program Additional Remotes Repeat Step 10 for each additional remote, including any that were previously functional. Each remote must be programmed during the same session.
- Step 12: Exit Programming Mode Turn the ignition to the ON position once more to exit remote programming mode. Then remove the key.
- Step 13: Test All Remotes Confirm the proper function of each programmed remote by testing the lock, unlock, and tailgate buttons.
Additional Considerations:
All Remotes Must Be Reprogrammed During the Same Session: Any remotes not reprogrammed will be removed from memory.
Battery Check: Ensure all remotes have working batteries to avoid signal interruption during programming.
System Capacity: The vehicle supports programming of up to four remotes.
Timing Is Crucial: Steps 5 through 8 must be completed quickly for the system to recognize the command.
Estimated Time: The full process typically takes less than 10 minutes.
