Programming Guide for 2004 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Cadillac SRX

Important Notice: The 2004 Cadillac SRX does not support onboard programming for remote keyless entry fobs. All remote fob programming must be performed using authorized diagnostic equipment by a qualified automotive technician. This process ensures proper integration with the vehicle’s electronic systems.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Confirm Programming Requirements Remote programming for this model must be completed through diagnostic tools. The procedure cannot be done manually by the vehicle owner.
  • Step 2: Use a Compatible Remote Fob Ensure that the replacement remote fob is designed specifically for the 2004 SRX. Using an incorrect model may prevent successful pairing or limit available functions.
  • Step 3: Gather Required Materials Before your appointment, prepare the following: The vehicle’s VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) All remote fobs you intend to program (new and currently used) Proof of ownership (vehicle title or registration)
  • Step 4: Choose Your Service Method If your vehicle is operational, driving it to a technician's location may reduce programming fees compared to mobile service options.
  • Step 5: Connect Diagnostic Tools A certified technician will access the vehicle’s onboard diagnostic port, typically located beneath the dashboard, and connect specialized programming equipment.
  • Step 6: Program the Remote(s) The technician will enter the remote programming mode via the diagnostic interface and register each remote fob with the vehicle’s control module. All remotes must be present during this step, as others may be erased during the process.
  • Step 7: Confirm Remote Functionality After programming is completed, test each remote to ensure it performs all expected functions: Lock and Unlock Doors Trunk or Tailgate Access Panic Alarm Activation Remote Start (if equipped)

Additional Considerations:

All Remotes Must Be Present During Programming: Any remotes not present may be removed from the system and must be reprogrammed later.

Battery Check: Ensure each remote fob has a functioning battery before the programming session.

System Capacity: The SRX typically supports up to four remote fobs.

Time Estimate: The full programming process generally takes 15 to 30 minutes, depending on technician access and vehicle response.
