2004 Honda Insight – Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Notice: When programming begins, all previously stored remote fobs will be deleted from the vehicle's memory. To maintain access, you must reprogram all remotes you intend to use during the same session. Additionally, each step in this process must be completed within 5 seconds of the previous one to avoid automatic exit from programming mode.
Programming Steps
- Step 1: Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to the ON (II) position. Do not start the engine; only turn the key until the dashboard lights turn on.
- Step 2: Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the remote you wish to program. This can be a new or previously used remote.
- Step 3: Turn the ignition to the LOCK (0) position.
- Step 4: Repeat steps 1 through 3 a total of three times using the same remote. That means you will perform this cycle—ON, button press, OFF—three times, with no more than 5 seconds between each action.
- Step 5: After the third repetition, turn the ignition to the ON (II) position once more to enter programming mode.
- Step 6: Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button again on the same remote. If programming mode is active, the door locks will cycle automatically, confirming entry into remote programming mode.
- Step 7: Within 10 seconds, press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on each additional remote fob you wish to program. After each button press, the door locks should cycle, confirming that the remote has been accepted. Be sure to include all remotes you want to use, even ones that were previously programmed.
- Step 8: When all remotes have been programmed, turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (0) position to exit programming mode.
- Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and close all doors.
- Step 10: Test each programmed remote by locking and unlocking the vehicle to ensure successful programming.
