2004 Honda Odyssey Keyless Entry Remote Fob Step-by-Step Programming Instructions

(Factory Installed System) Important Notes: This procedure is for 2004 Honda Odyssey models with a factory-installed keyless entry system. The vehicle can store up to three remotes at one time. If a fourth remote is programmed, the oldest stored remote will be erased from memory. Aim the remote toward the receiver near the glove box during programming. All steps must be completed within the specified timing to ensure success.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ON (II) position. Do not start the engine. This activates the vehicle’s electronic systems.
  • Step 2: Within 4 seconds, press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the remote you want to program. Ensure the remote is pointed at the receiver area near the glove box.
  • Step 3: Within 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch back to the LOCK (0) position. This completes one programming cycle.
  • Step 4: Repeat Steps 1 through 3 two more times, using the same remote. You will perform a total of three ignition cycles.
  • Step 5: After the third cycle, turn the ignition to the ON (II) position again. You must do this within 4 seconds of the previous step.
  • Step 6: Within 4 seconds, press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the same remote once more. If the vehicle has entered programming mode, the door locks will cycle (lock then unlock) to confirm.
  • Step 7: Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button again on the same remote to store it in memory. To program additional remotes (up to three total), press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on each one. Make sure the locks cycle after each to confirm successful registration.
  • Step 8: Turn the ignition switch back to the LOCK (0) position to exit programming mode. No further remotes can be added unless the procedure is restarted.
  • Step 9: Test each remote to ensure they are working properly. The vehicle should lock and unlock in response to button presses from all newly programmed remotes.
