Programming Guide for 2004 Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: This vehicle supports onboard programming for keyless entry remote fobs through a timed ignition cycle. To ensure complete functionality, all remotes must be programmed during the same session. Any remotes not included will be erased from the system’s memory.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Sit in the driver’s seat and close all vehicle doors. Make sure all keyless remote fobs you plan to program are with you before beginning.
- Step 2: Insert the ignition key into the ignition switch. Do not start the engine.
- Step 3: Within 10 seconds, turn the ignition from the OFF position to the RUN position eight times, ending with the key in the RUN position on the eighth cycle. This step must be completed quickly and smoothly.
- Step 4: After the eighth turn, the door locks will lock and then unlock, confirming that the system has entered programming mode.
- Step 5: Within 20 seconds, press any button on the first remote fob. The door locks will cycle again, indicating the remote has been successfully programmed.
- Step 6: If programming a second remote, press any button on it within 20 seconds of the first. The locks will cycle again to confirm successful programming.
- Step 7: Repeat Step 6 for each additional remote, ensuring every remote is programmed within 20 seconds of the last one.
- Step 8: Once all remotes are programmed, turn the ignition to the OFF position.
- Step 9: The door locks will cycle once more, signaling the vehicle has exited programming mode.
- Step 10: Remove the ignition key and test all remotes to ensure that the lock and unlock functions are working properly.
- Step 11: If any remote fails to operate, repeat the full procedure from Step 1, ensuring each action is completed within the required time limits.
Additional Considerations: All remotes must be programmed together. Any fob not included during this session will be deactivated. Timing is critical. Exceeding the time limits between steps will prevent the system from completing the programming process. Check the battery strength in each remote before starting to ensure signal transmission is successful.
