Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions for the 2004 Scion xA
Note: These steps are used to program the keyless entry functions of the remote. Up to four remotes can be registered. Follow the steps precisely to ensure proper programming.
Step-by-Step Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Make sure the driver’s door is open and the key is removed from the ignition.
- Step 2: Within 5 seconds, insert the key into the ignition and remove it twice.
- Step 3: Within 40 seconds, close and open the driver’s door two times.
- Step 4: Insert the key into the ignition and remove it again.
- Step 5: Within 40 seconds, close and open the driver’s door two more times.
- Step 6: Insert the key into the ignition and close the driver’s door.
- Step 7: Turn the ignition ON and OFF in one of the following sequences to select the desired programming mode: Once to add a new remote while retaining existing ones. Twice to erase existing remotes and add a new one. Three times to check the number of remotes currently programmed. Five times to erase all registered remotes.
- Step 8: Remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 9: The vehicle will lock and unlock to confirm the selected mode: Once, twice, or five times depending on the selected function. Then, up to four times slowly to indicate how many remotes are currently programmed.
- Step 10: Within 40 seconds, press and release both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote simultaneously.
- Step 11: Within 3 seconds, press either the LOCK or UNLOCK button.
- Step 12: The vehicle will lock and unlock once to confirm successful programming, or twice if the programming failed.
- Step 13: To program additional remotes, repeat Steps 10 and 11 for each one within 40 seconds.
- Step 14: Open the driver’s door to exit programming mode.
