2004 Subaru Baja Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Important Note: These steps are used to program the keyless entry functions of your remote fob. Up to four remotes can be registered to the vehicle. Ensure no other Subaru vehicles are nearby to avoid unintentional programming.

Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:

  • Step 1: If your vehicle has a factory-installed security system, disarm it before beginning the procedure.
  • Step 2: Open the driver’s door and sit in the driver’s seat.
  • Step 3: Close the driver’s door securely.
  • Step 4: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it from the LOCK to ON position and back to LOCK a total of ten times within 15 seconds. Leave the key in the LOCK position after the tenth cycle. Do not remove the key. The horn will sound once, indicating the vehicle has entered remote programming mode.
  • Step 5: Within 45 seconds of the horn sounding, complete the following steps to program the remote: A. Open the driver’s door. B. Close the driver’s door. C. Press and release any button on the remote you wish to program. The horn will sound twice, confirming successful programming.
  • Step 6: Once all desired remotes are programmed, remove the key from the ignition. The horn will sound three times, indicating the system has exited programming mode.

Additional Tips:

  • A maximum of four remotes can be programmed at one time. If a remote is lost, and you want to clear its access, reprogram your remaining remote four times to overwrite all previously stored codes. Avoid programming remotes while other Subaru vehicles are nearby, as their remotes could accidentally be programmed to your vehicle.
