Programming a 2004 Toyota Celica Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: This vehicle requires manual steps for programming the keyless entry remote fob, as it does not support automatic on-board procedures.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Initial Setup Ensure the driver's door is open and unlocked while all other doors remain closed. Begin with the key removed from the ignition.
  • Step 2: Key Insertions (within 5 seconds) Insert the key into the ignition without turning it, then promptly remove it. Repeat this insertion and removal of the key immediately.
  • Step 3: Door Sequence (within 40 seconds) Close and then promptly reopen the driver's door twice. Reinsert the key into the ignition and then remove it once more.
  • Step 4: Key and Door Interaction (within 40 seconds) Perform another set of closing and opening the driver’s door twice. Leave the key in the ignition during the final insertion. Close the driver’s door. Turn the ignition to ON (do not start the engine), then swiftly turn it back to OFF. Remove the key from the ignition.
  • Step 5: Enter Programming Mode The vehicle’s power door locks should automatically lock and then unlock within 3 seconds, signaling successful entry into programming mode. If the locks do not cycle, restart the procedure from Step 1.
  • Step 6: Programming the Remote (within 40 seconds) Press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1.5 seconds. Release both buttons, then immediately press and hold the lock button for 2 seconds. The door locks should cycle once to confirm successful programming. If the locks cycle twice, the remote has not been accepted and the steps need to be repeated. Repeat the programming steps for each remote you need to program.
  • Step 7: Conclusion Open the driver’s door to exit programming mode.

Additional Guidelines:

  • Programming Multiple Remotes: Ensure to repeat Step 6 for each remote that needs programming.
  • Functionality Check: Test the remote to ensure it operates all functions as expected.
  • Seeking Further Assistance: For comprehensive programming details or if encountering difficulties, refer to the vehicle's owner’s manual or consult a professional service provider.
