2005 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: The 2005 BMW Z4 supports onboard programming for keyless entry remotes. Follow the steps below carefully to program your key fob correctly. All remotes must be programmed within the same session.

• Step 1: Sit inside the vehicle and ensure all doors are closed securely.
• Step 2: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the “On” position (do not start the engine), then turn it back to “Off” and remove it. Do this step only once.
• Step 3: Hold down the unlock button on the remote.
• Step 4: While continuing to hold the unlock button, press the lock button three times in quick succession.
• Step 5: Release the unlock button. The door locks should cycle (lock and unlock) to confirm successful programming.
• Step 6: To program additional remotes, repeat Steps 3 through 5 for each remote immediately after the previous one—within 30 seconds.
• Step 7: Once all remotes are programmed, insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the “On” position to finalize the programming sequence.
• Step 8: Turn the ignition off and test each remote to confirm proper function.
