2005 Buick Rainier Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Notice: The 2005 Buick Rainier supports onboard programming for remote keyless entry fobs. Follow the steps below to successfully program new or replacement remotes.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Ensure all vehicle doors are fully closed before beginning the process.
- Step 2: Insert the key into the ignition, but do not turn it yet.
- Step 3: Press and hold the power UNLOCK button located on the driver’s door panel. Keep holding this button through the next several steps until instructed to release.
- Step 4: Perform the following steps quickly and in sequence:
- Step 5: Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (the position just before the engine starts).
- Step 6: Turn the ignition back to the OFF position.
- Step 7: Turn the ignition to the ON position again.
- Step 8: Turn the ignition back to the OFF position.
- Step 9: Release the power UNLOCK button on the driver’s door. The vehicle will automatically cycle the door locks (lock and unlock) to indicate that it has entered programming mode.
- Step 10: On the remote fob you wish to program, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the same time. Continue holding both buttons until the door locks cycle again. This may take up to 30 seconds.
- Step 11: Repeat Step 10 for each additional remote, including any remotes that were previously programmed. Only remotes programmed during this session will be recognized by the vehicle.
- Step 12: Turn the ignition switch to the ON position to exit programming mode.
Additional Notes: A maximum of four remote fobs can be programmed to this vehicle. If the door locks do not cycle during Step 9 or 10, restart the process from Step 1 and repeat the sequence. Be sure to test each remote after programming to confirm proper operation.
