Programming Guide for 2005 Lexus RX330 Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: These steps will program only the remote functions (lock/unlock) of your keyless entry remote. The engine immobilizer chip (transponder key) must be programmed separately by a technician with the correct equipment.

Remote Fob Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Initial Setup Start with the key out of the ignition. The driver’s door must be open and unlocked. All other doors should be closed.
  • Step 2: Key Insertions (within 5 seconds) A. Insert the key into the ignition without turning it, then remove it. B. Repeat the above step once more (insert and remove).
  • Step 3: Door Cycle Sequence (within 40 seconds) A. Close, then open the driver’s door. B. Close, then open the driver’s door again. C. Insert the key into the ignition without turning it, then remove it.
  • Step 4: Programming Mode Activation (within 40 seconds) A. Close, then open the driver’s door. B. Close, then open the driver’s door again. C. Insert the key into the ignition and leave it in. D. Close the driver’s door. E. Turn the ignition switch to ON (do not start the engine), then turn it back to OFF. F. Remove the key from the ignition.
  • Step 5: Enter Programming Mode Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should cycle (lock then unlock). If this does not happen, repeat from Step 1.
  • Step 6: Program Remote(s) (within 40 seconds) A. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1.5 seconds. B. Immediately after releasing both buttons, press and hold the LOCK button for 2 seconds. C. The door locks should lock then unlock once to confirm successful programming. If they cycle twice, the remote was not accepted—repeat steps A and B. D. Repeat steps A–C for each additional remote you wish to program.
  • Step 7: Exit Programming Mode Open the driver’s door to complete the process and exit programming mode.

Additional Notes:

  • A maximum of four remotes can be programmed to the system. Timing is critical; follow the sequence carefully and complete each section within the designated time. These instructions do not program the immobilizer chip in the key head. To enable engine starting, the chip must be programmed by a technician using diagnostic equipment.
