2005 Mitsubishi Montero – Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Notice: The 2005 Montero supports onboard programming for keyless entry remote fobs. Follow the steps below to program up to four remotes. Perform each step in order without pausing to ensure successful registration.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Locate the data port beneath the driver’s side dashboard, usually found to the right of the steering column.
- Step 2: Insert the key into the ignition and leave it in the OFF position. Do not turn the key.
- Step 3: Identify terminals 1 and 4 in the data port and verify that both have metal contact pins.
- Step 4: Connect terminals 1 and 4 using a suitable jumper wire. Keep the jumper wire connected throughout the programming process. Be sure to connect the correct terminals.
- Step 5: Within 10 seconds of attaching the jumper wire, press the hazard light switch six times. The door locks will cycle once, indicating that the vehicle has entered programming mode.
- Step 6: Press the LOCK button on the remote fob you wish to program three times within 10 seconds. The doors will lock and unlock once to confirm the fob has been successfully programmed.
- Step 7: Repeat Step 6 for any additional remotes, up to a total of four. Each time a remote is successfully programmed, the door locks will cycle once. Complete programming of all remotes within one minute.
- Step 8: When finished, disconnect the jumper wire from the data port.
- Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 10: Test all programmed remotes to ensure the lock and unlock functions are working correctly.
