2005 Mitsubishi Outlander – Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Notice: The 2005 Outlander includes a built-in procedure that allows you to program up to four keyless entry remotes. To ensure successful pairing, follow the steps below without interruption and complete each step promptly.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Find the vehicle’s data link connector, located under the driver’s side dashboard near the steering column.
- Step 2: Insert the ignition key and leave it in the OFF position. Do not turn or start the vehicle.
- Step 3: Examine the connector and locate terminals 1 and 4. Confirm that metal pins are present in both of these positions.
- Step 4: Connect terminals 1 and 4 using an appropriate jumper wire. Keep the wire connected for the entire duration of the programming sequence. Double-check terminal locations before proceeding.
- Step 5: Within 10 seconds of establishing the jumper connection, press the hazard light button six times rapidly. The door locks will cycle once, indicating the system has entered remote programming mode.
- Step 6: On the remote you wish to program, press the LOCK button three times within 10 seconds. The door locks will cycle again to confirm successful registration.
- Step 7: If you need to register additional remotes (up to four total), repeat Step 6 for each one within one minute. Each successful pairing will be confirmed by the door locks cycling once.
- Step 8: After programming all remotes, disconnect the jumper wire from the diagnostic connector.
- Step 9: Remove the ignition key to complete the programming process.
- Step 10: Test each remote to ensure proper operation of the lock and unlock functions.
