Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions for the 2005 Scion xA
Note: This procedure is used to program the keyless entry functions of your remote fob. A maximum of four remotes can be registered. Follow the instructions carefully to ensure successful programming.
Step-by-Step Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Ensure the driver’s door is open and the key is removed from the ignition.
- Step 2: Within 5 seconds, insert the key into the ignition and remove it two times.
- Step 3: Within 40 seconds, close and open the driver’s door two times.
- Step 4: Insert the key into the ignition again, then remove it.
- Step 5: Within 40 seconds, close and open the driver’s door two more times.
- Step 6: Insert the key into the ignition once more and close the driver’s door.
- Step 7: Turn the ignition ON and OFF according to the function you want to perform: Once to add a new remote while keeping all existing remotes. Twice to erase all existing remotes and add a new one. Three times to check how many remotes are currently registered. Five times to erase all registered remotes.
- Step 8: Remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 9: The vehicle will lock and unlock to confirm the selected mode: Once, twice, or five times depending on your selection. Then up to four times slowly to indicate how many remotes are currently stored in memory.
- Step 10: Within 40 seconds, press and release both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote simultaneously.
- Step 11: Within 3 seconds, press either the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the remote.
- Step 12: The door locks will cycle once to confirm successful programming. If the system cycles twice, programming was unsuccessful.
- Step 13: To program additional remotes, repeat Steps 10 and 11 within 40 seconds for each one (up to four total).
- Step 14: Open the driver’s door to exit programming mode.
