2005 Subaru Baja Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Important Note: These steps are used to program the remote entry functions of your key fob. You may program up to four remotes during the same session. Make sure no other Subaru vehicles are nearby during the process to prevent unintended pairing.

Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:

  • Step 1: If your vehicle has a factory-installed security system, disarm it before beginning the procedure.
  • Step 2: Open the driver’s door and sit in the driver’s seat.
  • Step 3: Close the driver’s door securely.
  • Step 4: Insert the ignition key and turn it from the LOCK position to the ON position and back to LOCK a total of ten times within 15 seconds. Do not remove the key. End in the LOCK position. The horn will sound once, confirming the system has entered remote programming mode.
  • Step 5: Within 45 seconds of the horn sounding, perform the following actions: A. Open the driver’s door. B. Close the driver’s door. C. Press and release any button on the remote fob. The horn will sound twice, indicating that the remote has been successfully registered.
  • Step 6: After all remotes have been programmed, remove the key from the ignition. The horn will sound three times, confirming the system has exited programming mode.

Additional Tips:

  • A maximum of four remotes can be programmed during the same session. If one of your remotes is lost, reprogram a working remote four times to erase the lost fob from the system’s memory. Keep other Subaru remotes out of range during programming to avoid unintentionally linking them to your vehicle.
