Programming Guide for 2006 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: The 2006 model supports onboard programming for remote keyless entry fobs through the Driver Information Center (DIC). A maximum of eight remotes can be programmed. Follow the steps below carefully to ensure successful programming.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Insert the Ignition Key Insert the ignition key and turn it to the ON position, but do not start the engine. This enables access to the Driver Information Center display.
- Step 2: Open the Vehicle Information Menu Press the vehicle information button on the dashboard until the display shows PRESS TO RELEARN REMOTE KEY.
- Step 3: Activate Remote Programming Mode Press the SET/RESET button to confirm. The display will update to REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE, indicating the system is ready to learn remotes.
- Step 4: Program the First Remote Take the first keyless remote and press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the same time. Hold them for approximately 15 seconds. A chime will sound once the remote has been successfully programmed. On vehicles equipped with memory seats, the first programmed remote will be linked to Driver 1, and the second to Driver 2.
- Step 5: Program Additional Remotes (Optional) To program additional remotes, repeat Step 4 with each remote. You may program up to eight remotes total. A chime will confirm each remote has been paired successfully.
- Step 6: Exit Programming Mode Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key from the ignition. This will exit the programming mode.
- Step 7: Test All Remotes Test each programmed remote to confirm that the lock, unlock, and trunk functions operate correctly.
Additional Considerations:
Battery Check: Ensure each remote has a fresh battery before attempting programming.
Time Efficiency: Complete all remote programming during the same session. Restarting the procedure may be required if the ignition is turned off.
System Capacity: This system supports a maximum of eight remote fobs.
