Programming Guide for 2006 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Cadillac Escalade
Important Notice: The 2006 Escalade supports onboard programming of remote keyless entry fobs. All previously programmed remotes will be erased once the vehicle enters programming mode. To ensure proper operation, all remotes—including existing ones—must be reprogrammed during the same session.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Close All Doors Ensure all vehicle doors are completely closed before beginning the programming process. This includes the tailgate.
- Step 2: Insert the Ignition Key Place the ignition key into the ignition, but do not turn it yet.
- Step 3: Press and Hold the Unlock Button On the driver’s door panel, press and hold the power UNLOCK button. Do not release this button until Step 9.
- Step 4: Prepare for Rapid Ignition Cycling You will now cycle the ignition key quickly through the next four steps. Keep one hand on the ignition and the other holding the unlock button.
- Step 5: Turn the ignition to the ON position (just before engine start).
- Step 6: Turn the ignition OFF.
- Step 7: Turn the ignition ON again.
- Step 8: Turn the ignition OFF once more.
- Step 9: Release the Unlock Button Let go of the UNLOCK button. If successful, the door locks will cycle (lock and unlock). If this does not happen, the vehicle has not entered programming mode. Remove the key, open the driver’s door, and start again from Step 1.
- Step 10: Program the First Remote Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the first remote at the same time. Hold the buttons for up to 30 seconds, or until the door locks cycle, confirming successful programming.
- Step 11: Program Additional Remotes Repeat Step 10 for each additional remote you want to program, including any previously functioning remotes. All remotes must be programmed in this same session.
- Step 12: Exit Programming Mode Turn the ignition key to the ON position to finalize the process, then remove the key.
- Step 13: Test All Remotes Test each programmed remote by pressing the lock, unlock, and tailgate release buttons to confirm proper functionality.
Additional Considerations:
All Remotes Must Be Programmed Together: Remotes not included in the session will be removed from memory.
Check Battery Condition: Make sure all remotes have fresh, functional batteries before beginning.
System Capacity: The vehicle supports programming for up to four remotes.
Timing Is Essential: Steps 5 through 8 must be completed quickly to successfully enter programming mode.
Estimated Time: The entire process usually takes less than 10 minutes.
