2006 Honda Insight – Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Important Notice: When programming mode is initiated, all previously stored remotes will be erased from the system. To retain full functionality, make sure to reprogram all remotes you wish to use during the same session. It’s also important to note that each step must be completed within 5 seconds of the previous one. Exceeding this limit will cause the system to exit programming mode automatically.

Programming Procedure

  • Step 1: Insert the ignition key and turn it to the ON (II) position. This powers the vehicle’s electrical system without starting the engine.
  • Step 2: Press either the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the remote you want to program. This remote can be brand new or previously used.
  • Step 3: Turn the ignition key to the LOCK (0) position.
  • Step 4: Repeat steps 1 through 3 two additional times using the same remote. In total, you will complete this cycle three times: ON (II) → press button → LOCK (0) Make sure to move quickly—each action must occur within 5 seconds of the last.
  • Step 5: Turn the ignition to the ON (II) position for a fourth time. This final turn initiates remote programming mode.
  • Step 6: Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the same remote once again. If the doors lock and unlock automatically, the vehicle has successfully entered programming mode.
  • Step 7: Within 10 seconds, press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on each additional remote you want to program. After each button press, the door locks should cycle to confirm the remote was accepted. All intended remotes must be programmed at this time, or they will not function.
  • Step 8: Once all remotes have been added, turn the ignition to the LOCK (0) position to exit programming mode.
  • Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and ensure all doors are closed.
  • Step 10: Test each remote to confirm that locking, unlocking, and other functions work correctly from outside the vehicle.
