Programming Guide for 2006 Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: This vehicle supports onboard programming for keyless entry remote fobs using a timed ignition cycle method. All remotes must be programmed during a single session. Any fob not included during programming will be erased from the system memory and will need to be reprogrammed.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Sit in the vehicle and ensure all doors are fully closed. Have all remote fobs you intend to program ready before beginning.
- Step 2: Insert the ignition key into the ignition switch without starting the engine.
- Step 3: Within 10 seconds, turn the ignition from the OFF position to the RUN position eight times, ending with the key in the RUN position on the eighth turn. This step must be performed quickly and smoothly.
- Step 4: The door locks will automatically lock and unlock, indicating that the vehicle has entered programming mode.
- Step 5: Within 20 seconds, press any button on the first remote fob. The door locks will cycle again to confirm that the remote has been successfully programmed.
- Step 6: If you have a second remote, press any button on it within 20 seconds of programming the first. The door locks will cycle again to confirm successful registration.
- Step 7: Repeat Step 6 for any additional remotes, ensuring each one is programmed within 20 seconds of the last.
- Step 8: After programming all remotes, turn the ignition key to the OFF position. The door locks will cycle once more to indicate the system has exited programming mode.
- Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and test each remote to confirm that lock and unlock functions operate correctly.
- Step 10: If any remote fails to function, restart the procedure from Step 1 and make sure to follow the timing guidelines closely.
Additional Considerations: Program all remotes in the same session. Any remote not included will no longer operate the vehicle’s keyless system. Precise timing is required. Ignition cycling and remote inputs must be performed within the specified time windows. Check battery strength in all remotes before starting. Weak or depleted batteries may result in failed programming.
