Programming Guide for 2006 Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: This vehicle supports onboard programming for standard keyless entry remote fobs. The process involves using the ignition and door controls in a specific sequence. All remote fobs must be programmed during the same session. Any fobs not included will be erased from the system’s memory and must be reprogrammed.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Sit in the driver’s seat and ensure all vehicle doors are closed.
- Step 2: Open the driver’s door only and leave it open throughout the programming process.
- Step 3: Press the UNLOCK button on the driver’s door panel once while the door remains open.
- Step 4: Insert the key into the ignition switch without starting the engine.
- Step 5: Within 10 seconds, turn the ignition key from the OFF position to the RUN position eight times, ending in the RUN position on the eighth turn. Perform this step smoothly and quickly.
- Step 6: Watch for confirmation—the door locks will automatically lock and unlock, indicating the vehicle has entered programming mode.
- Step 7: Within 20 seconds, press any button on the first remote fob. The door locks will cycle again to confirm that the remote has been successfully programmed.
- Step 8: If you are programming a second remote, press any button on it within 20 seconds of programming the first. The locks will cycle once more to confirm successful registration.
- Step 9: Repeat Step 8 for any additional remotes, making sure each one is programmed within 20 seconds of the previous.
- Step 10: After all remotes have been programmed, turn the ignition key to the OFF position.
- Step 11: The door locks will cycle one final time to confirm that the vehicle has exited programming mode.
- Step 12: Remove the key from the ignition and test each remote to confirm that the lock and unlock functions are working as expected.
- Step 13: If any remote fails to operate, repeat the entire procedure from Step 1, ensuring all timing is followed precisely.
Additional Considerations: All remotes must be programmed in the same session. Any fobs not included will no longer operate the vehicle. Precise timing is essential. Delays between steps can cause the system to exit programming mode prematurely. Check the battery in each remote before beginning. Weak batteries can prevent successful programming.
