Programming Guide for 2006 Mitsubishi Galant Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: Follow the instructions below to program both the key portion and the remote portion of your remote head key. It is essential to follow the steps in the order provided to ensure successful programming. Step-by-Step Instructions:

Program the Key Portion of Your Remote Head Key:

  • Step 1: Ensure Key is Properly Cut Before starting, ensure the new key is properly cut. The new key must be cut to match your vehicle's ignition system.
  • Step 2: Insert the First Working Key into the Ignition Insert an existing working key into the ignition cylinder. Keep the ignition in the OFF position for this step.
  • Step 3: Turn the Ignition ON for 5 Seconds Turn the ignition cylinder to the ON position (without cranking the engine) for 5 seconds, then return it to the OFF position. Remove the first key.
  • Step 4: Insert the Second Working Key Within 10 seconds, insert the second working key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position. The security light on the dashboard will flash twice, indicating the system is ready to register the new key.
  • Step 5: Insert the New (Unprogrammed) Key Within 10 seconds of removing the second key, insert the new, unprogrammed key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position.
  • Step 6: Program the New Key The security light will illuminate for 3 seconds to indicate that the new key has been successfully programmed.
  • Step 7: Turn the Ignition OFF and Test the New Key Turn the ignition to the OFF position and remove the new, programmed key. Repeat Steps 4 through 6 to program additional keys. All new keys must be programmed within 30 seconds of removing the second working key and security light flashing twice.
  • Step 8: Exit Programming Mode To exit programming mode, leave the ignition switched ON for more than 30 seconds.

Program the Remote Portion of Your Remote Head Key:

  • Step 1: Locate the Data Port Find the Data Port under the driver’s side dashboard, typically located to the right of the steering column. This is where the jumper wire will be connected.
  • Step 2: Insert Keys into the Ignition Insert the keys into the ignition and leave it in the OFF position.
  • Step 3: Ensure Metal Contact Pins in Terminals 1 and 4 Make sure there are metal contact pins in terminals 1 and 4 of the Data Port. These pins are necessary to initiate programming.
  • Step 4: Connect the Jumper Wire Connect the Data Port terminals 1 and 4 with a suitable jumper wire. Keep the jumper wire connected throughout the programming process. Ensure that you are connecting the correct terminals.
  • Step 5: Activate Programming Mode Within 10 seconds after connecting the jumper wire, press the Hazard Switch 6 times. The doors will automatically lock and unlock once, indicating that the system is in programming mode.
  • Step 6: Program the First Remote Press the LOCK button on the remote to be registered three times within 10 seconds. The doors will lock and unlock once to confirm successful programming.
  • Step 7: Program Additional Remotes If you have additional remotes to program, repeat Step 6 for each remote within one minute. After programming each remote, the doors will lock and unlock once to confirm successful registration.
  • Step 8: Test All Remotes After programming all remotes, test each one by pressing the lock/unlock buttons to ensure proper functionality.
  • Step 9: Disconnect the Jumper Wire Once all remotes are successfully programmed, disconnect the jumper wire from the Data Port to exit programming mode.
  • Step 10: Turn the Ignition to OFF Make sure the ignition is turned to the OFF position after disconnecting the jumper wire.
  • Step 11: Remove the Keys from the Ignition Finally, remove the keys from the ignition. Verify that all remotes are working properly before concluding the process.
