2006 Mitsubishi Montero – Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Notice: The 2006 Montero supports onboard programming for keyless entry remote fobs. You can program up to four remotes using the steps outlined below. For best results, complete each step without interruption.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Locate the data port beneath the driver’s side dashboard, typically positioned to the right of the steering column.
- Step 2: Insert the key into the ignition and leave it in the OFF position. Do not start or turn the key.
- Step 3: Identify terminals 1 and 4 on the data port and ensure that both contain metal contact pins.
- Step 4: Connect terminals 1 and 4 using a suitable jumper wire. Leave the jumper wire in place throughout the programming process. Make sure the correct terminals are used.
- Step 5: Within 10 seconds of connecting the jumper wire, press the hazard light switch six times. The vehicle doors should lock and unlock once, indicating that programming mode has been successfully activated.
- Step 6: Press the LOCK button on the remote fob you wish to program three times within 10 seconds. The doors will lock and unlock once to confirm successful registration.
- Step 7: Repeat Step 6 for each additional remote, up to four total (including existing remotes). Complete all programming within one minute. The door locks will cycle once after each remote is accepted.
- Step 8: After all remotes are programmed, disconnect the jumper wire from the data port.
- Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 10: Test each remote fob to ensure that all programmed remotes operate the door locks correctly.
