2006 Mitsubishi Outlander – Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Notice: The 2006 Outlander includes an onboard system that allows you to program up to four remote fobs. For accurate results, each step must be completed quickly and in the proper order.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Locate the diagnostic port positioned beneath the dashboard on the driver’s side, generally near the steering column.
- Step 2: Insert the key into the ignition but do not turn it. Leave it in the OFF position.
- Step 3: Identify terminals 1 and 4 on the diagnostic port. Confirm that both terminals have visible metal contacts.
- Step 4: Using an appropriate jumper wire, connect terminals 1 and 4. Leave this connection in place for the entire programming process. Double-check the terminal numbers before proceeding.
- Step 5: Within 10 seconds of making the jumper connection, press the hazard light switch six times in quick succession. If successful, the door locks will automatically cycle once, indicating that the vehicle is ready for remote registration.
- Step 6: On the remote you wish to program, press the LOCK button three times within 10 seconds. The locks will cycle again to confirm that the remote has been accepted.
- Step 7: If additional remotes are being programmed (up to four total), repeat Step 6 for each one within one minute. Each successful programming will be followed by the locks cycling once.
- Step 8: After programming is complete, remove the jumper wire from the diagnostic connector.
- Step 9: Remove the ignition key to exit programming mode.
- Step 10: Test all programmed remotes to ensure that locking and unlocking functions work correctly.
