Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions for the 2006 Scion xA

Note: This procedure programs the remote (keyless entry) functions of your fob. A maximum of four remotes can be programmed. Follow the steps carefully for successful registration.

Step-by-Step Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Ensure the driver’s door is open and the key is removed from the ignition.
  • Step 2: Within 5 seconds, insert the key into the ignition and remove it twice.
  • Step 3: Within 40 seconds, close and open the driver’s door two times.
  • Step 4: Insert the key into the ignition again and remove it.
  • Step 5: Within 40 seconds, close and open the driver’s door two more times.
  • Step 6: Insert the key into the ignition and close the driver’s door.
  • Step 7: Turn the ignition ON and OFF to select the desired programming mode: Once to add a remote while retaining all previously programmed remotes. Twice to erase all previously programmed remotes and add a new one. Three times to display how many remotes are currently registered. Five times to erase all remotes from memory.
  • Step 8: Remove the key from the ignition.
  • Step 9: The vehicle will now lock and unlock to confirm the selected mode: Once, twice, or five times based on the chosen function. Then slowly lock and unlock up to four times to show how many remotes are currently stored.
  • Step 10: Within 40 seconds, press and release the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously on the remote you want to program.
  • Step 11: Within 3 seconds, press either the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the same remote.
  • Step 12: The doors will lock and unlock once to confirm successful programming, or twice to indicate failure.
  • Step 13: To program additional remotes, repeat Steps 10 and 11 within 40 seconds for each additional fob (up to four total).
  • Step 14: Open the driver’s door to exit programming mode.
