2006 Subaru Forester Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Notes: A maximum of four remote fobs can be programmed at one time. If the vehicle is equipped with an alarm, it must be deactivated before beginning. Each remote has an 8-digit ID code, usually found on the packaging (for new remotes) or printed inside the remote case (for used ones). This code is required during the programming process.
Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Sit in the driver’s seat and close the driver’s door. Ensure all other doors and the rear hatch are also closed.
- Step 2: Within 15 seconds, insert the key into the ignition. Turn the key from the LOCK to the ON position and back again ten times rapidly. Do not start the vehicle. If completed correctly, the horn will sound once, and the interior lamp will begin flashing. A continuous tone will also activate, signaling that the vehicle is in programming mode. Note: If a mistake is made during this process, the sound and flashing will stop. In this case, exit the vehicle, close all doors, and start again from Step 1.
- Step 3: Within 45 seconds of entering programming mode, open and close the driver’s door. The acoustic signal will change to indicate readiness to enter the ID code.
- Step 4: Begin entering the first digit of the 8-digit remote ID code: Press the LOCK button on the driver’s door panel the same number of times as the first digit.
- Step 5: After entering the digit, press the UNLOCK button once to confirm and move to the next digit.
- Step 6: Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for all eight digits of the code, working from left to right.
- Step 7: After entering the full code, repeat the entire process again from Step 4 to verify the code.
- Step 8: Once the second entry is completed, the system will emit a confirmation tone, indicating successful programming.
- Step 9: If programming multiple remotes, repeat the ID entry process for each additional remote.
- Step 10: After all remotes have been programmed, test each one to confirm they properly lock and unlock the vehicle.
