Programming Guide for 2007 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – CTS

Important Notice: The 2007 CTS does not support onboard programming for smart key remote fobs. Programming must be carried out using professional diagnostic equipment by a trained automotive technician.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Verify that the replacement remote fob is compatible with the 2007 Cadillac CTS and matches OEM specifications for the vehicle.
  • Step 2: Ensure the vehicle’s battery is fully charged and in good condition to avoid interruptions during the programming process.
  • Step 3: Gather all remote fobs that you intend to use with the vehicle, as older fobs may be erased and need to be reprogrammed during the session.
  • Step 4: Contact a certified technician or dealer service center with the appropriate programming tools to complete the procedure.
  • Step 5: If your vehicle is driveable, consider taking it directly to the technician’s location to avoid additional fees associated with mobile service.
  • Step 6: Be prepared to show proof of ownership—such as a valid vehicle registration, title, or insurance document—prior to starting the service.
  • Step 7: The technician will connect a diagnostic scan tool to the OBD-II port under the dashboard to access the vehicle’s keyless entry system.
  • Step 8: Through the diagnostic interface, the technician will enter programming mode and initiate the pairing process with the new remote.
  • Step 9: Each remote must be programmed individually. If you are adding multiple remotes, all must be present and programmed together.
  • Step 10: After the process is complete, the technician will test each remote to confirm full functionality, including lock, unlock, and trunk release.
  • Step 11: Reinsert the mechanical key into each fob (if applicable), and store all remotes in a safe, easily accessible location.
