Programming Guide for 2007 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Cadillac STS
Important Notice: This vehicle allows onboard remote programming under the following conditions: With a recognized transmitter (one or more) Without any recognized transmitter (U.S. models only)
Note for Canadian models: Two recognized transmitters are required for onboard programming due to immobilizer standards.
Programming with a Recognized Transmitter: Use this method if you have at least one functional remote.
- Step 1: Ensure the ignition is off and the vehicle is secure.
- Step 2: Bring the working transmitter(s) and the new transmitter into the vehicle.
- Step 3: Insert the key into the driver's door lock cylinder.
- Step 4: Turn the key to the unlock position five times within five seconds.
- Step 5: The Driver Information Center (DIC) will display “READY FOR FOB #X” (X may be 2, 3, or 4).
- Step 6: Place the new transmitter in the transmitter pocket, located inside the center console bin between the front seats, with the buttons facing forward.
- Step 7: Wait for a confirmation chime. The DIC will display “READY FOR FOB #X” or “MAX # FOBS LEARNED.”
- Step 8: Remove the remote and press the UNLOCK button twice.
- Step 9: Repeat Steps 6–8 to program any additional remotes.
Programming without a Recognized Transmitter (U.S. Models Only): If no functional remotes are available, follow this procedure. This process takes about 30 minutes to complete.
- Step 1: Ensure the vehicle is off.
- Step 2: Place the new remote into the transmitter pocket inside the center console bin with buttons facing forward.
- Step 3: Insert the vehicle key into the driver’s door lock.
- Step 4: Turn the key to the unlock position five times within five seconds.
- Step 5: The DIC will display “OFF-ACCESSORY TO LEARN.”
- Step 6: Press the OFF/ACC ignition button.
- Step 7: The DIC will display “WAIT 10 MINUTES” and begin a countdown.
- Step 8: After 10 minutes, the DIC will again prompt “OFF-ACCESSORY TO LEARN.”
- Step 9: Press the OFF/ACC button again.
- Step 10: Wait for the second 10-minute countdown.
- Step 11: Once prompted again, press the OFF/ACC button for the third time.
- Step 12: Wait for the final 10-minute countdown to complete.
- Step 13: After the last countdown, a chime will sound and the DIC will display “READY FOR FOB #1.” All previously programmed remotes will be erased at this point.
- Step 14: A second chime confirms programming. The DIC will then display “READY FOR FOB #2.”
- Step 15: Remove the transmitter and press UNLOCK twice to initialize it.
- Step 16: Repeat Steps 2 through 15 for up to four transmitters.
- Step 17: Once all remotes are programmed, the DIC will display “MAX # FOBS LEARNED” and exit programming mode.
- Step 18: Press UNLOCK on each remote to confirm functionality.
