Programming Guide for 2007 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Cadillac XLR

Important Notice: You can program up to four smart key remotes for your 2007 Cadillac XLR. The vehicle allows onboard programming whether or not you have a recognized transmitter. Follow the appropriate method below.

Programming with a Recognized Transmitter:Use this method if at least one remote is currently functional.

  • Step 1: Make sure the vehicle is turned off.
  • Step 2: Carry both the working and new unprogrammed transmitters with you.
  • Step 3: Go to the rear of the vehicle and insert the mechanical key into the lock cylinder located on the lower driver-side rear fascia.
  • Step 4: Open the trunk and quickly turn the key to the unlock position five times within five seconds.
  • Step 5: The Driver Information Center (DIC) will display “READY FOR FOB #X” (X indicates the next available slot).
  • Step 6: Insert the new transmitter into the glove box transmitter pocket with the buttons facing to the right.
  • Step 7: Wait for a confirmation beep. The DIC will then display “READY FOR FOB #3,” “#4,” or “MAX # FOBS LEARNED.”
  • Step 8: Press the OFF/ACCESSORY button to complete the programming process.

Programming without a Recognized Transmitter: Use this method if no current remotes are recognized. The procedure takes approximately 30 minutes.

  • Step 1: Ensure the vehicle is completely off.
  • Step 2: Insert the new transmitter into the glove box transmitter pocket with the buttons facing to the right.
  • Step 3: Go to the rear of the vehicle and insert the mechanical key into the driver-side lock cylinder on the lower rear fascia.
  • Step 4: Open the trunk and turn the key five times within five seconds.
  • Step 5: The DIC will display “OFF-ACC TO LEARN.”
  • Step 6: Press the OFF/ACCESSORY button.
  • Step 7: The DIC will read “WAIT 10 MINUTES” and count down to zero.
  • Step 8: When prompted again, press the OFF/ACCESSORY button a second time.
  • Step 9: Wait for the second 10-minute countdown to complete.
  • Step 10: Press the OFF/ACCESSORY button a third time when prompted.
  • Step 11: Wait for the final 10-minute countdown to complete.
  • Step 12: A beep will sound, and the DIC will display “READY FOR FOB #1.” All previously learned transmitters are now erased.
  • Step 13: The inserted transmitter is now programmed. A beep confirms success, and the DIC will show “READY FOR FOB #2.”
  • Step 14: To program more remotes, remove the first and insert the next. Repeat until all transmitters are added.
  • Step 15: Once all desired remotes are programmed (up to four), press the OFF/ACCESSORY button to exit programming mode.
