2007 Mercury Monterey

Programming Guide for 2007 Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: This vehicle includes onboard programming capability for keyless entry remote fobs. All remotes must be programmed during the same session. Any remote not included during the procedure will be erased from the vehicle’s memory and must be reprogrammed.

Programming Instructions:

  • Step 1: Sit in the driver’s seat and make sure all doors are securely closed.
  • Step 2: Have all remote fobs you wish to program ready before starting the procedure.
  • Step 3: Insert the ignition key into the ignition switch. Do not start the engine.
  • Step 4: Within 10 seconds, turn the ignition from the OFF position to the RUN position eight times, ending on the eighth turn with the key in the RUN position. This must be done quickly and smoothly. Do not pause during the sequence.
  • Step 5: After the eighth turn, the door locks will automatically lock and unlock, confirming the vehicle has entered programming mode.
  • Step 6: Within 20 seconds, press any button on the first remote fob. The door locks will cycle again, confirming that the remote has been successfully programmed.
  • Step 7: If you have a second remote, press any button on it within 20 seconds of programming the first. The door locks will cycle again to confirm the second remote has also been registered.
  • Step 8: Repeat Step 7 for any additional remotes, ensuring each one is programmed within 20 seconds of the previous.
  • Step 9: After programming all desired remotes, turn the ignition key to the OFF position.
  • Step 10: The door locks will cycle once more, indicating the vehicle has exited programming mode.
  • Step 11: Remove the ignition key and test each remote to confirm that both the lock and unlock functions work correctly.
  • Step 12: If a remote fails to respond, repeat the entire procedure from Step 1, ensuring timing is followed precisely.

Additional Considerations: All remotes must be included in the same session. Remotes not programmed during this cycle will no longer function. Timing is critical. Delays between ignition cycles or remote programming steps may cancel the procedure. Ensure all remote batteries are in good condition before beginning to avoid communication errors.
