Programming Guide for 2007 Mercury Mountaineer Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Part 1: Programming Standard Keyless Entry Remote Fobs
Important Notice: The 2007 Mercury Mountaineer includes onboard programming for standard remote fobs. All remotes must be programmed during the same session. Any remote not included will be erased from the system and must be reprogrammed.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Sit in the driver’s seat and close all doors securely.
- Step 2: Ensure you have all remote fobs you wish to program. Each must be programmed during this session.
- Step 3: Insert the key into the ignition without starting the engine.
- Step 4: Within 10 seconds, turn the ignition from OFF to RUN eight times, ending with the eighth cycle in the RUN position. Perform this step quickly and smoothly.
- Step 5: The door locks will automatically lock and unlock, confirming the vehicle is in programming mode.
- Step 6: Within 20 seconds, press any button on the first remote fob. The locks will cycle again to confirm successful programming.
- Step 7: Press any button on the second remote fob within 20 seconds of the previous one. The locks will cycle again to confirm programming.
- Step 8: Repeat Step 7 for any additional remotes. Each must be programmed within 20 seconds of the last.
- Step 9: Turn the ignition to the OFF position. The locks will cycle once more to indicate the end of programming mode.
- Step 10: Test all remotes to ensure proper lock and unlock functionality.
Part 2: Programming Remote Head Keys (Integrated Key and Fob)
Important Notice: This method only works if two previously programmed ignition keys are available. If fewer than two working keys are present, onboard programming is not possible, and professional assistance will be required.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Ensure you have the following: Two functional, programmed ignition keys One new, unprogrammed remote head key
- Step 2: Insert the first programmed key into the ignition.
- Step 3: Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start the engine) and keep it ON for at least 3 seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.
- Step 4: Turn the ignition OFF and remove the first key.
- Step 5: Within 10 seconds, insert the second programmed key into the ignition.
- Step 6: Turn the ignition to the ON position again and keep it ON for at least 3 seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.
- Step 7: Turn the ignition OFF and remove the second key.
- Step 8: Within 10 seconds, insert the new, unprogrammed key into the ignition.
- Step 9: Turn the ignition to the ON position and keep it ON for at least 6 seconds. This step allows the vehicle to recognize and program the new key.
- Step 10: Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key.
- Step 11: Test the new key by starting the engine and using the remote entry buttons (if the key includes an integrated fob). If successful, both ignition and remote functions should work.
- Step 12: If the key does not function correctly, wait 10 seconds and repeat the procedure from Step 2.
Additional Notes: All keys and remotes must be programmed in the same session. Remotes not included will be removed from the system. Timing is critical. Follow all steps within the specified windows to avoid failure. Ensure remote batteries are in working condition before beginning to prevent communication issues.
