2007 Subaru Tribeca Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Notice: This vehicle supports onboard programming for keyless entry remotes, but the process must be completed within a strict time frame. Carefully read all instructions before beginning the procedure.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Sit in the driver’s seat. Make sure all doors, including the rear gate or trunk, are fully closed.
- Step 2: Open and close the driver’s door one time.
- Step 3: Within 45 seconds, open and close the driver’s door again.
- Step 4: Insert the key into the ignition. Turn the key from ""LOCK"" to ""ON"" (do not start the engine) ten times within 15 seconds. If performed correctly, you will hear a single chime, and the buzzer will remain active while the interior light begins flashing. This indicates that the vehicle has entered programming mode. If no chime sounds, the buzzer does not activate, or the interior light does not flash, restart from Step 3.
- Step 5: Within 45 seconds of entering programming mode, open and close the driver’s door once more. You should then hear a confirmation tone lasting 30 seconds. Proceed to the next step before the tone ends.
- Step 6: Before the tone stops, begin entering the transmitter code using the driver’s side power door lock switch: Press the “LOCK” button the number of times equal to the first digit of the 8-digit transmitter code. Press the “UNLOCK” button once to move to the next digit. Repeat this for all 8 digits of the code. Example: If your code is 43789521, press: LOCK 4 times → UNLOCK LOCK 3 times → UNLOCK LOCK 7 times → UNLOCK ...and so on, for all 8 digits.
- Step 7: After entering the 8th digit, press the “UNLOCK” button once.
- Step 8: Repeat the entire 8-digit code again in the same manner (LOCK button presses followed by UNLOCK). The second entry must match the first exactly.
- Step 9: If both entries match, you will hear a confirmation tone lasting 30 seconds. If the tone does not play, or an error occurs, repeat the process starting from Step 3. Error Handling: If more than five seconds pass between any button presses, the system will exit programming mode. If the second entry of the code does not match the first, the procedure will fail and must be restarted. If six errors occur during entry, you must restart from Step 3. If an error occurs after five reattempts, wait a moment before restarting the process. Programming Additional Remotes: Up to four transmitter codes can be programmed into the system. To program additional remotes, repeat Steps 4 through 8 for each one during the same session. Final Step:
- Step 10: Once all remotes have been programmed, remove the key from the ignition. Test each remote to confirm that locking, unlocking, and other remote functions work as expected.
