2007 Toyota Avalon Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Guide
(For models with separate key and remote—not Smart Key push-button start systems)
Important Notice: This procedure applies only to 2007 Avalon models that use a traditional key and a separate remote fob. Vehicles equipped with a Smart Key and push-button start require programming using specialized equipment by a qualified technician.
Programming Procedure (Remote Only):
- Step 1: Prepare the Vehicle Remove the key from the ignition. Open the driver’s door and leave it open. Ensure all other doors are closed. Confirm the driver’s door is unlocked.
- Step 2: Insert and Remove Key Twice (Within 5 Seconds) A. Insert the key into the ignition (do not turn), then remove it. B. Repeat: Insert the key again (do not turn), then remove it.
- Step 3: Door Cycling and Key Insertion (Within 40 Seconds) A. Close, then open the driver’s door. B. Close, then open the driver’s door again. C. Insert the key into the ignition (do not turn), then remove it.
- Step 4: Final Setup (Within 40 Seconds) A. Close, then open the driver’s door. B. Close, then open the driver’s door again. C. Insert the key into the ignition and leave it in place. D. Close the driver’s door. E. Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start), then turn it OFF. F. Remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 5: Confirm Programming Mode Within 3 seconds, the door locks should cycle (lock then unlock) to confirm successful entry into programming mode. If the locks do not cycle, return to Step 1 and repeat the process.
- Step 6: Program Remote(s) (Within 40 Seconds Per Remote) For each remote: A. Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for 1.5 seconds, then release. B. Immediately press and hold the lock button alone for 2 seconds, then release. C. The door locks should cycle once, confirming the remote was accepted. If the locks cycle twice, the remote was not accepted—repeat steps A and B.
- Step 7: Finalize Programming Repeat Step 6 for any additional remotes. When finished, open the driver’s door to exit programming mode.
Additional Notes:
- A maximum of four remotes can be programmed. All remotes must be programmed during the same session. This process is not compatible with push-button start Smart Key systems.
