Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions for the 2007 Toyota Highlander

Important Notice: The 2007 Toyota Highlander does not support self-programming for keyless entry remote fobs. Specialized diagnostic equipment is necessary, and programming must be performed by a certified professional.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Initial Setup Begin with the key removed from the ignition. Ensure the driver's door is open, all other doors are closed, and the driver's door is unlocked.
  • Step 2: Key Insertion Within 5 seconds: Insert the key into the ignition and promptly remove it without turning it. Repeat this insertion and removal process once more.
  • Step 3: Door Interaction Within 40 seconds: Close and then open the driver's door twice. Reinsert the key into the ignition and remove it without turning.
  • Step 4: Synchronization of Key and Door Proceed within the next 40 seconds: Close and open the driver’s door twice. Insert the key into the ignition and leave it there. Close the driver's door.
  • Step 5: Activation of Programming Mode Within the same 40-second window: Turn the ignition to ON (do not start the engine), then back to OFF. Remove the key from the ignition.
  • Step 6: Confirmation of Programming Mode Within 3 seconds, observe if the vehicle's door locks automatically lock and then unlock, signaling successful entry into programming mode. If the locks do not cycle, restart the procedure from Step 1.
  • Step 7: Programming the Remote Within 40 seconds of confirming entry into programming mode: Simultaneously press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the remote for 1.5 seconds. Immediately release both buttons, then press and hold the lock button alone for 2 seconds. Watch for the door locks to cycle once, indicating successful programming. If they cycle twice, the programming was not accepted; repeat this step.
  • Step 8: Additional Remote Programming For any additional remotes, repeat Step 7 for each new remote within 40 seconds.
  • Step 9: Completion Open the driver's door to exit programming mode and finalize the process.

Additional Considerations:

  • Reprogramming All Remotes: Ensure all existing remote fobs are present during programming, as they may require simultaneous reprogramming. Verification of Expertise: Make sure the technician is experienced with your specific model’s key system to avoid any programming errors. Consulting Manufacturer Resources: For detailed instructions and further assistance, refer to the vehicle’s owner’s manual or contact an authorized service center.
