Smart Key Remote Fob Programming Guide – 2007 Toyota Sienna
Important Notice: This procedure is for vehicles equipped with a factory keyless entry system and a traditional metal ignition key. Programming must be completed using precise timing. If any step is delayed or performed incorrectly, the vehicle will not enter programming mode.
Programming Procedure
- Step 1: Vehicle Preparation Remove the key from the ignition. Ensure the driver’s door is open, all other doors are closed, and the driver’s door is unlocked. Remain seated in the driver’s seat to maintain access to the door and ignition during the procedure.
- Step 2: Key Insertions (Must Be Completed Within 5 Seconds) A. Insert the key into the ignition without turning, then remove it. B. Repeat: Insert the key a second time, again without turning, then remove it. These two insertions must be completed within 5 seconds.
- Step 3: Door Actions and Key Insert (Must Be Completed Within 40 Seconds) A. Close and then open the driver’s door fully. B. Repeat: Close and open the driver’s door a second time. C. Insert the key into the ignition without turning, then remove it.
- Step 4: Activate Programming Mode (Must Be Completed Within 40 Seconds) A. Close and then open the driver’s door. B. Repeat: Close and open the driver’s door again. C. Insert the key into the ignition and leave it inserted. D. Close the driver’s door. E. Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start the engine), then back to OFF. F. Remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 5: Enter Programming Mode Confirmation Within 3 seconds, the door locks should lock and then unlock automatically. This confirms the vehicle has entered programming mode. If the locks do not cycle, restart the process from Step 1, ensuring all actions are performed within the required time frames. Remote Programming (Must Be Completed Within 40 Seconds Per Remote)
- Step 6: Program Each Remote A. On the remote, press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for 1.5 seconds, then release. B. Immediately press and hold the lock button alone for 2 seconds, then release. C. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should lock and unlock once, confirming successful programming. If the locks cycle twice, the remote was not accepted. Repeat steps A and B. D. Repeat steps A through C for each additional remote.
- Step 7: Finalize and Exit Programming Mode Open the driver’s door to exit programming mode. The vehicle will now recognize all successfully programmed remotes.
Additional Tips and Considerations Program All Remotes Together:
- Any remote not included in this session will be erased from the system and must be reprogrammed. System Capacity: Most systems can store up to four remotes. Exceeding the limit may overwrite previously programmed remotes. Use Fresh Batteries: Ensure all remotes have strong, working batteries before programming to prevent communication failures. Be Precise with Timing: Each phase of the process is time-sensitive. If you miss a step or take too long, start over from Step 1. Test All Remotes: After programming, verify that each remote functions correctly for locking, unlocking, and (if available) panic features.
