Programming Guide for 2008 Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: The 2008 model allows for onboard programming of keyless entry remote fobs. The process varies depending on whether your vehicle is equipped with Driver Information Center (DIC) buttons. These instructions apply only to remote fobs and do not include ignition or transponder key programming.
If Your Vehicle Has Driver Information Center (DIC) Buttons:
- Step 1: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position (do not start the engine).
- Step 2: Press the Vehicle Information button repeatedly until the display reads PRESS TO RELEARN REMOTE KEY.
- Step 3: Press the Set/Reset button. The display will change to REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE, indicating the vehicle is in programming mode.
- Step 4: On the first remote, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the same time. Hold for approximately 15 seconds. A chime will sound to confirm that the remote has been successfully programmed.
- Step 5: To program additional remotes, repeat Step 4 for each one. Up to eight remotes can be programmed to the system.
- Step 6: After all remotes have been programmed, turn the ignition to the OFF position and remove the key.
- Step 7: Test each remote to ensure all functions operate correctly.
If Your Vehicle Does Not Have Driver Information Center (DIC) Buttons:
- Step 1: Ensure the vehicle is in Park (P). Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position (as far as it goes without starting the engine).
- Step 2: Press the trip odometer reset stem repeatedly until the display reads RELEARN REMOTE KEY.
- Step 3: Press and hold the trip odometer reset stem for approximately three seconds. The message REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE will appear, confirming entry into programming mode.
- Step 4: On the first remote, press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for about 15 seconds. Wait for the chime, which indicates successful programming.
- Step 5: To program additional remotes, repeat Step 4 for each one. The system supports up to eight remotes.
- Step 6: Turn the ignition to the OFF position and remove the key.
- Step 7: Test each remote to ensure full functionality.
Additional Considerations:
Maximum Remote Capacity: A total of eight remotes can be programmed to this system.
Battery Health: Ensure remote batteries are in good condition before beginning the procedure.
Ignition Key Programming: This process does not cover ignition or transponder key programming. A qualified technician and diagnostic equipment are required for ignition key pairing.
Restart If Needed: If a remote fails to respond, restart the process from Step 1 and try again.
