Programming Guide for 2008 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: The 2008 model supports onboard programming of keyless entry remotes using the Driver Information Center (DIC). A total of up to eight remotes can be programmed during a single session. All desired remotes must be programmed together, as any not included will be erased from the system.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Insert the Ignition Key Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position. Do not start the engine. This enables access to the Driver Information Center.
- Step 2: Access the Remote Learning Menu Press the Vehicle Information button repeatedly until the display reads PRESS TO RELEARN REMOTE KEY.
- Step 3: Activate Programming Mode Press the SET/RESET button. The screen will now display REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE, indicating that the system is ready to program remotes.
- Step 4: Program the First Remote Take the first keyless remote and press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the same time. Hold both buttons for about 15 seconds. A chime will sound once the remote has been successfully programmed. For vehicles equipped with memory recall seats, the first remote programmed will be assigned to Driver 1, and the second will be assigned to Driver 2.
- Step 5: Program Additional Remotes (Optional) To program another remote, repeat Step 4 with the next fob. Up to eight remotes can be stored in the system. A chime will sound after each successful programming.
- Step 6: Exit Programming Mode Once all remotes have been programmed, turn the ignition OFF and remove the key. This will exit the remote learning mode.
- Step 7: Verify Remote Functionality Test all programmed remotes to confirm they operate properly by checking the lock, unlock, and trunk release buttons.
Additional Considerations:
Program All Remotes Together: Any remotes not programmed during the same session will be erased from memory.
Remote Battery Check: Make sure each fob has a functional battery to avoid errors during the procedure.
Memory Seat Assignment: Remotes may be linked to individual driver memory profiles depending on programming order.
