Programming Guide for 2008 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Cadillac SRX

Important Notice: The 2008 Cadillac SRX supports onboard programming for remote fobs. The procedure differs slightly based on whether the vehicle is equipped with Driver Information Center (DIC) buttons. Carefully follow the instructions that match your configuration.

Procedure for Vehicles with Driver Information Center Buttons:

  • Step 1: Insert the ignition key and turn it to the ON position (do not start the engine).
  • Step 2: Press the Vehicle Information button repeatedly until the display reads PRESS TO RELEARN REMOTE KEY.
  • Step 3: Press the Set/Reset button. The display should now show REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE.
  • Step 4: On the first remote fob, press and hold the Lock and Unlock buttons simultaneously for approximately 15 seconds. A chime will sound to confirm successful programming.
  • Step 5: To add another remote, repeat Step 4 with the next fob. You may program up to eight remotes total.
  • Step 6: Once all remotes are programmed, turn the ignition OFF and remove the key. Test each remote to ensure functionality.

Procedure for Vehicles without Driver Information Center Buttons:

  • Step 1: Ensure the vehicle is in Park (P). Insert the key and turn it to the ON position (do not start the engine).
  • Step 2: Press the Trip Odometer Reset stem repeatedly until the display reads RELEARN REMOTE KEY.
  • Step 3: Press and hold the Trip Odometer Reset stem for approximately 3 seconds until the display changes to REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE.
  • Step 4: On the first remote, press and hold the Lock and Unlock buttons together for about 15 seconds. A chime will confirm successful programming.
  • Step 5: Repeat Step 4 for any additional remotes. You can program up to eight remotes in total.
  • Step 6: Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key to exit programming mode. Test each remote to confirm it functions correctly.
