Programming Guide for 2008 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Cadillac STS

Important Notice: This vehicle supports onboard remote programming under two conditions: With at least one working transmitter Without a recognized transmitter (U.S. models only)

Canadian Models: Due to national immobilizer standards, Canadian vehicles require two recognized remotes for programming.

Programming with a Recognized Transmitter: Use this method if you have at least one working remote fob.

  • Step 1: Turn off the vehicle completely.
  • Step 2: Have both the working and the new unprogrammed transmitters with you.

  • Step 6: Place the new transmitter into the transmitter pocket, located inside the center console bin between the front seats, with buttons facing forward.
  • Step 7: A chime will sound once programming is successful. The DIC will then display “READY FOR FOB #X” again or “MAX # FOBS LEARNED”.
  • Step 8: Remove the newly programmed transmitter and press the UNLOCK button twice to initialize it.
  • Step 9: To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 6 through 8.
