2008 Honda Odyssey

2008 Honda Odyssey Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Step-by-Step Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Insert your key into the ignition and turn it to the ON (II) position. This is the position just before starting the engine—dashboard lights should illuminate.
  • Step 2: Within 4 seconds, press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the remote. Ensure the remote is aimed toward the receiver, typically located near the glove box.
  • Step 3: Turn the ignition switch back to the LOCK (0) position. This resets the system and prepares it for the next input.
  • Step 4: Repeat Steps 1 through 3 two more times using the same remote. You should perform a total of three cycles. Timing must be precise—each cycle must be completed within 4 seconds of the previous one.
  • Step 5: After the third cycle, turn the ignition to ON (II) one final time. This signals the system that you are entering programming mode.
  • Step 6: Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button again on the same remote. You should hear the door locks cycle, indicating that the vehicle has successfully entered programming mode. Press the button again to confirm.
  • Step 7: Program any additional remotes by pressing the LOCK or UNLOCK button on each one. The vehicle should confirm each remote by cycling the door locks. You may program up to three remotes total.
  • Step 8: Turn the ignition switch back to LOCK (0) to complete the programming process. This will exit programming mode and store all remote signals in memory.
  • Step 9: Test each remote by locking and unlocking the doors from outside the vehicle. Verify that all programmed remotes work properly and respond from various distances.

Additional Information:

  • The 2008 Odyssey can store up to three remotes in its memory. If a fourth remote is added, the oldest one will be erased. Timing is critical. If steps are not completed within the specified time, the system may not enter programming mode. Ensure your battery is fully charged in both the vehicle and the remote for successful synchronization. This procedure only programs the remote entry functions, not the immobilizer chip inside the key. If your key has a chip, it must be programmed separately by a qualified technician.
