Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Guide – 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis

Important Notice: The following procedure programs keyless entry remote fobs. Follow each step carefully to ensure successful programming. If additional ignition key programming is required, a separate procedure and professional tools may be necessary.

Programming Procedure:

• Step 1: Insert the key into the ignition. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN eight times within 10 seconds, ending in the RUN position on the eighth turn. The door locks will cycle to confirm that the vehicle has entered programming mode.
• Step 2: Within 20 seconds, press any button on the first remote. The door locks will cycle again to confirm the remote has been programmed.
• Step 3: Within 20 seconds of programming the first remote, press any button on the second remote (if applicable). The door locks will cycle to confirm successful programming of the second remote.
• Step 4: Turn the ignition to the OFF position. The door locks will cycle once more to indicate that the vehicle has exited programming mode.

Note: This procedure programs the keyless entry remote fob only. Programming an ignition transponder key requires a separate process that must be performed using specialized equipment by a qualified professional.
