Programming Guide for 2008 Integrated Keyless Entry Remote Fob (Keyhead Transmitter)
Important Notice: This vehicle allows onboard programming of an additional key only if two previously programmed keys are available. The new key must be an unprogrammed, compatible key with an integrated remote (keyhead transmitter). All steps must be performed in sequence and within specific time limits for successful programming.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Ensure all keys are readily available before beginning—this includes two previously programmed keys and one new, unprogrammed key.
- Step 2: Insert the first programmed key into the ignition and turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start the engine).
- Step 3: Keep the ignition in the ON position for at least 3 seconds but no more than 10 seconds, then turn the ignition OFF and remove the key.
- Step 4: Wait at least 3 seconds but no more than 10 seconds, then insert the second programmed key into the ignition.
- Step 5: Turn the ignition to the ON position and hold it for at least 3 seconds but no more than 10 seconds.
- Step 6: Turn the ignition OFF and remove the second key.
- Step 7: Within 10 seconds, insert the new unprogrammed key into the ignition.
- Step 8: Turn the ignition to the ON position and hold it for at least 6 seconds to allow the system to program the key.
- Step 9: Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key. The new key should now be programmed.
- Step 10: Test the new key by starting the engine and verifying that the keyless entry functions (if the key includes an integrated remote fob).
Additional Considerations: Timing is essential. Exceeding any of the time limits between steps may cause the programming attempt to fail. Do not attempt to start the engine during the programming steps. Use the ON position only. If the key fails to start the engine or activate the remote system, wait 10 seconds and repeat the full procedure from Step 1.
