Programming Guide for 2008 Mercury Sable Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: To program a new keyless entry remote fob for your 2008 Mercury Sable, you must have two previously programmed keys and the new unprogrammed key readily accessible. If you do not have two working keys, the process will require assistance from a professional to cut and program a second key.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Insert the first previously programmed key into the ignition.
- Step 2: Switch the ignition from the OFF position to the ON position. Keep the ignition in the ON position for at least 3 seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.
- Step 3: Switch the ignition back to the OFF position and remove the first programmed key from the ignition.
- Step 4: After waiting at least 3 seconds but within 10 seconds of removing the first key, insert the second previously programmed key into the ignition.
- Step 5: Switch the ignition from the OFF position to the ON position again. Keep the ignition in the ON position for at least 3 seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.
- Step 6: Switch the ignition back to the OFF position and remove the second previously programmed key from the ignition.
- Step 7: After waiting 3 seconds, but within 10 seconds of removing the second key, insert the new unprogrammed key into the ignition.
- Step 8: Switch the ignition from the OFF position to the ON position again. Keep the ignition in the ON position for at least 6 seconds.
- Step 9: Remove the newly programmed key from the ignition. If the key has been successfully programmed, it will start the engine and operate the remote entry system (if the new key is an integrated keyhead transmitter). If the key was not programmed successfully, wait 10 seconds and repeat steps 1 through 8.
Additional Considerations: You must have two previously programmed keys to perform this programming procedure. If you only have one working key, you may need a professional to cut and program a second key before you can proceed with the process. Ensure that each key is inserted correctly and the ignition cycles are completed within the allotted time to prevent the system from exiting programming mode. Check that the battery in the new key is fully charged before starting the procedure to ensure successful programming.
