Programming Guide for 2008 Mitsubishi Galant Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: Please follow these instructions carefully to program both the key portion and the remote portion of your remote head key. Each step must be followed sequentially to ensure proper registration and functionality.
Program the Key Portion of Your Remote Head Key:
- Step 1: Ensure Key is Properly Cut Before starting, ensure the new key is cut correctly. The key must match your vehicle's ignition system.
- Step 2: Insert the First Working Key into the Ignition Insert the existing working key into the ignition cylinder and leave it in the OFF position.
- Step 3: Turn the Ignition ON for 5 Seconds Turn the ignition to the ON position (without cranking the engine) for 5 seconds. Then return the ignition to the OFF position and remove the key.
- Step 4: Insert the Second Working Key Within 10 seconds of removing the first key, insert the second working key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position. The security light will flash twice, indicating that the system is ready to program the new key.
- Step 5: Insert the New (Unprogrammed) Key Within 10 seconds of removing the second key, insert the new, unprogrammed key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position.
- Step 6: Program the New Key The security light will illuminate for 3 seconds, confirming that the new key has been successfully programmed.
- Step 7: Turn Ignition OFF and Remove the Key Turn the ignition to the OFF position and remove the newly programmed key. Repeat Steps 4 through 6 if you need to program additional keys. All new keys must be programmed within 30 seconds of removing the second key.
- Step 8: Exit Programming Mode To exit programming mode, leave the ignition ON for more than 30 seconds.
Program the Remote Portion of Your Remote Head Key:
- Step 1: Locate the Data Port Find the Data Port under the driver’s side dashboard, typically to the right of the steering column. This is where you will connect the jumper wire.
- Step 2: Insert Keys into the Ignition Insert the keys into the ignition and leave it in the OFF position.
- Step 3: Ensure Metal Contact Pins in Terminals 1 and 4 Verify that there are metal contact pins in terminals 1 and 4 of the Data Port. These terminals must be connected for the system to enter programming mode.
- Step 4: Connect the Jumper Wire Connect a suitable jumper wire between terminals 1 and 4 in the Data Port. Leave the jumper wire connected throughout the programming procedure. Ensure the connection is secure.
- Step 5: Activate Programming Mode Within 10 seconds of connecting the jumper wire, press the Hazard Switch six times in quick succession. The doors will automatically lock and unlock once, indicating that the system is in programming mode.
- Step 6: Program the First Remote Press the LOCK button on the remote you wish to program three times within 10 seconds. Upon successful programming, the doors will lock and unlock once to confirm that the remote has been registered.
- Step 7: Program Additional Remotes To program additional remotes (up to 4), repeat Step 6 within one minute for each remote. After each successful programming, the doors will lock and unlock once.
- Step 8: Test All Remotes After programming all remotes, test each one by pressing the lock/unlock buttons to ensure proper functionality.
- Step 9: Disconnect the Jumper Wire Once all remotes are successfully programmed, disconnect the jumper wire from the Data Port to exit programming mode.
- Step 10: Turn the Ignition OFF Ensure the ignition is turned OFF once the jumper wire is removed to complete the process.
- Step 11: Remove Keys from the Ignition Finally, remove the keys from the ignition. Test all remotes to verify they are functioning properly.
