2008 Mitsubishi Raider – Keyless Entry Remote Fob & Transponder Key Programming Instructions
A. Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Important Notice: This procedure requires at least one working remote fob. If no remotes are functional, onboard programming cannot be completed. Additionally, all remote fobs must be reprogrammed during the same session—any that are not included will become inactive. Preparation Steps: Ensure all remote fobs (both new and existing) are inside the vehicle. Sit in the driver’s seat with the seatbelt fastened. All doors must be closed, and no other occupants should be present.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the “ON” position (as far as it turns without starting the engine).
- Step 2: With a working remote, press and hold the UNLOCK button.
- Step 3: While continuing to hold UNLOCK, press and hold the PANIC button within 6 seconds. Hold both until an audible chime is heard, indicating programming mode is active. Then release both buttons.
- Step 4: Within 60 seconds, program each remote (new and existing) by following this sequence: Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons for 2 seconds, then release. Wait for a chime indicating signal reception. Within 4 seconds, press and release the UNLOCK button. Another chime confirms successful programming.
- Step 5: Repeat Step 4 for each remaining remote.
- Step 6: Turn the ignition switch to the “OFF” position or wait 60 seconds for the vehicle to exit programming mode automatically.
- Step 7: Test all remotes to ensure each functions correctly.
Note: A maximum of six remote transmitters can be programmed for this vehicle.
B. Transponder Key Programming Important Notice: This method requires two working, pre-programmed transponder keys. Without two functional keys, onboard programming cannot be used.
Transponder Key Programming Steps:
- Step 1: Insert the first programmed key into the ignition and turn it to the “ON” position (do not start the engine). Wait approximately 3 seconds, then turn it to “OFF” and remove the key.
- Step 2: Within 15 seconds, insert the second programmed key and turn the ignition to the “ON” position. Wait about 10 seconds. You will see the immobilizer warning light illuminate and hear a chime. Then turn the ignition to “OFF” and remove the second key.
- Step 3: Within 50 seconds, insert the new unprogrammed key and turn the ignition to the “ON” position. After about 10 seconds, a chime will sound and the immobilizer light will remain on for 3 seconds—this confirms successful programming.
- Step 4: To add more keys, repeat Steps 1 through 3 for each additional key.
