2008 Subaru Impreza Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Important Note: You may program up to four remote fobs for this vehicle. The entire sequence must be completed promptly and in the correct order. If any step is delayed or missed, the process will need to be restarted.

Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:

  • Step 1: Sit in the driver’s seat and ensure all doors, including the trunk or rear hatch, are closed securely.
  • Step 2: Open and close the driver’s door one time.
  • Step 3: Within 45 seconds of Step 2, open and close the driver’s door again.
  • Step 4: Within 15 seconds, turn the ignition key from LOCK to ON and back to LOCK ten times rapidly. Do not start the vehicle. After the tenth cycle, a confirmation tone will sound once, followed by a continuous buzzer, and the interior light will flash.
  • Step 5: Within 45 seconds of entering programming mode, open and close the driver’s door one time. A steady tone will sound for 30 seconds, indicating the system is ready for transmitter code input.
  • Step 6: Before the tone stops, locate the 8-digit transmitter code. For the first digit, press the LOCK button on the driver’s door panel the same number of times as the digit (e.g., press 5 times for a digit of 5). Once completed, press the UNLOCK button within 5 seconds to move to the next digit.
  • Step 7: Repeat the process in Step 6 for all 8 digits of the transmitter code. After each digit is entered, press UNLOCK within 5 seconds to continue. After all 8 digits are entered, press UNLOCK once more to complete the first input.
  • Step 8: You must now re-enter the same 8-digit code a second time following the same steps. If the two entries do not match exactly, the process will fail and must be repeated from Step 3.
  • Step 9: After successfully entering the second set of 8 digits, the confirmation tone will sound again for 30 seconds.
  • Step 10: If programming additional remotes, repeat the process starting from Step 4 for each new fob. Up to four remotes can be registered.
  • Step 11: Once all remotes have been programmed, remove the key from the ignition. The system will exit programming mode.\
  • Step 12: Test each remote to ensure the lock and unlock features function properly.
