Programming Guide for 2009 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: The 2009 model supports onboard programming of keyless entry remote fobs through the Driver Information Center (DIC). A maximum of eight remotes can be programmed during one session. All remotes must be programmed in the same session, as any not included will be erased from memory.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Insert the Ignition Key Insert the ignition key and turn it to the ON position without starting the engine. This action enables access to the Driver Information Center display.
  • Step 2: Access Remote Key Programming Menu Press the Vehicle Information button repeatedly until the display reads PRESS TO RELEARN REMOTE KEY.
  • Step 3: Activate the Learning Mode Press the SET/RESET button. The display will change to REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE, indicating that the system is ready to program remotes.
  • Step 4: Program the First Remote Take the first keyless remote and press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously. Hold both buttons for approximately 15 seconds. A chime will sound once the remote is successfully programmed. If your vehicle has memory recall seats, the first remote will be assigned to Driver 1, and the second to Driver 2.
  • Step 5: Program Additional Remotes (Optional) To program another remote, repeat Step 4 using the next fob. You may program up to eight remotes total. A chime will confirm each successful programming.
  • Step 6: Exit Programming Mode Once all remotes are programmed, turn the ignition OFF and remove the key. This will close the remote programming session.
  • Step 7: Test All Remotes Check the functionality of each programmed remote by using the lock, unlock, and trunk release buttons to confirm proper operation.

Additional Considerations:

All Remotes Must Be Programmed Together: Remotes not programmed during the same session will be removed from memory.

Battery Check: Ensure each remote has a working battery to avoid programming errors.

Memory Seat Assignment: If applicable, remote order may affect driver profile assignments.

Maximum Capacity: The system allows up to eight remote fobs to be stored at one time.
