2009 Cadillac Escalade

Programming Guide for 2009 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Cadillac Escalade

Important Notice: The 2009 Escalade allows for onboard programming of remote keyless entry fobs. Up to eight remotes can be programmed during a single session. Any remotes not programmed during this process will be erased from memory, so it is important to reprogram all remotes you wish to keep active. There are two programming procedures, depending on whether your vehicle is equipped with Driver Information Center (DIC) buttons. Use the appropriate method below for your configuration.

Procedure A: For Vehicles With Driver Information Center (DIC) Buttons

  • Step 1: Insert the Ignition Key Turn the ignition key to the ON position (do not start the engine). This will activate the Driver Information Center.
  • Step 2: Navigate to the Remote Relearn Menu Press the Vehicle Information button repeatedly until the display reads PRESS TO RELEARN REMOTE KEY.
  • Step 3: Activate Learning Mode Press the SET/RESET button. The message REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE will appear, indicating the system is ready to accept new remotes.
  • Step 4: Program the First Remote Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the first remote at the same time. Hold the buttons for approximately 15 seconds, or until a chime sounds, confirming successful programming.
  • Step 5: Program Additional Remotes Repeat Step 4 for each additional remote. The vehicle supports programming of up to eight remotes. A chime will sound after each successful remote is programmed.
  • Step 6: Exit Programming Mode Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key. This will end the programming session.
  • Step 7: Test All Remotes Verify that each remote functions correctly by testing the lock, unlock, and tailgate release buttons.

Procedure B: For Vehicles Without DIC Buttons (Trip Odometer Stem Method)

  • Step 1: Prepare the Vehicle Ensure the gear is in Park (P) and turn the ignition key to the ON position (without starting the engine).
  • Step 2: Access the Remote Relearn Menu Press the trip odometer reset stem repeatedly until the display shows RELEARN REMOTE KEY.
  • Step 3: Enter Programming Mode Press and hold the trip odometer reset stem for approximately three seconds. The message REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE will appear, indicating the vehicle is ready to program remotes.
  • Step 4: Program the First Remote Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote at the same time. Hold the buttons for up to 15 seconds, or until the door locks cycle or a chime sounds, confirming successful pairing.
  • Step 5: Program Additional Remotes Repeat Step 4 for all additional remotes. The system can store up to eight remotes in total.
  • Step 6: Exit Programming Mode Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key to end the programming session.
  • Step 7: Test All Remotes Ensure all remotes work correctly by checking the lock, unlock, and trunk/tailgate release buttons.

Additional Considerations:

All Remotes Must Be Programmed During the Same Session: Any not included will be removed from memory.

Battery Status: Verify all remotes have fresh, functional batteries prior to programming.

System Capacity: The vehicle can store up to eight remotes.

Programming Time: The full process takes only a few minutes to complete.
